Angle Structure Of Eye

C ciliary body radial and circular muscles. Wide angle of anterior chamber denotes the eye in which the angle between iris and surface of the trabecular meshwork is between 20 to 45 degrees.

In someone with narrow angles the iris and the cornea are too close together.

Angle structure of eye. Narrow angles refers to the anatomy at the front of the eye called the drainage angle. The human eye is a roughly spherical organ responsible for perceiving visual stimuli. The iris is partly responsible for regulating the amount of light permitted to enter the eye.

Chamber depth is slightly diminished during accommodation partly by increased lens curvature partly by forward translocation of the Lens. Magnification is given by the biomicroscope. The labeled structures listed alphabetically are.

When the drainage angle is so narrow that the iris touches the cornea it blocks fluid from leaving the eye. It is usually noted between 10 and 40 degrees. Anatomically the eye comprises two components fused into one.

The eye is made up of three coats or layers enclosing various anatomical structures. Gonioscopy indicates the angular width of the iridocorneal angle by the number of ocular structures visible above the rim. The outer covering of the eyeball consists of a relatively tough white layer called the sclera or white of the eye.

Lens also called crystalline lens. The angle of the iris is defined as the angle between two lines. This can be caused by a rubella infection or by recessive mutant genes.

It has the ability to enlarge and shrink depending on how much light is entering the eye. Chamber depth is slightly diminished during accommodation partly by increased lens curvature partly by forward translocation of the Lens. The first line is parallel to the trabecular meshwork and the second a tangent to the anterior iris surface approximately 13 of the distance from the most peripheral portion of the iris.

It is enclosed within the eye sockets in the skull and is anchored down by muscles within the sockets. Angles less than 20 degrees are termed as narrow angles. After passing through the iris the light rays pass thru the eyes natural crystalline lens.

The transparent structure inside the eye that focuses light rays onto the retina. Angles less than 20 degrees are termed as narrow angles. Congenital Glaucoma Since glaucoma is a result of the abnormally high intraocular pressure congenital glaucoma can be caused by abnormal development of the iridocorneal angle structures that are responsible for the proper drainage of fluid.

M ciliary muscle longitudinal. Hence it does not possess a perfect spherical shape. In some eyes this angle is more acute than usual and is called narrow angle.

Near the front of the eye in the area protected by the eyelids the sclera is covered by a thin transparent membrane conjunctiva which runs to the edge of the cornea. The white portion of the eyeball is called the sclera. The angle of the anterior chamber is seen by reflection.

Anterior chamber Is 3mm deep and it contains 025ml of aqueous humour. This is where fluid called aqueous humor drains from the eye. The trabecular meshwork is important because it is the area where the aqueous humor drains out of the eye.

En corneal endothelium or Descemets. Wide angle of anterior chamber denotes the eye in which the angle between iris and surface of the trabecular meshwork is between 20 to 45 degrees. A wide angle allows sufficient drainage of humour through the trabecular meshwork unless obstructed whereas a narrow angle may impede the drainage system and leave the patient susceptible to acute angle-closure glaucoma.

The iris attaches to the ciliary body band in an open angle. The colored part of the eye. 1-1 Sketch of the anterior chamber angle.

Anterior Chamber Angle and Trabecular Meshwork The anterior chamber angle and the trabecular meshwork are located where the cornea meets the iris. The normal angle structures of an open angle as shown in figure 1 are the iris ciliary body band scleral spur trabecular meshwork and Schwalbes line from posterior to anterior. The outermost layer known as the fibrous tunic is composed of the cornea and sclera which provide shape to the eye and support the deeper structuresThe middle layer known as the vascular tunic or uvea consists of the choroid ciliary body pigmented epithelium and iris.

It is the space formed Anteriorly by the posterior surface of cornea Posteriorly by the lens within the pupillary aperture anterior surface of iris and a part of cilary body 4. This fluid then circulates through the pupil into the front of the eye and drains out of the eye through a complex circular drainage structure in the angle that is the angle formed between the iris and the cornea the clear front covering of the eye. Iris processes figure 2 may be present and are normal extensions of iris tissue into the scleral spur.

This clear flexible structure works like the lens in a camera shortening and lengthening its width in order to focus light rays properly. The width of the iridocorneal angle is one factor affecting the drainage of aqueous humour from the eyes anterior chamber. Anterior chamber is an angular space.

To see the entire angle the lens must be rotated on the eye and the slit beam rotated with it but perpendicular to it a horizontal slit being used when the mirror is vertical and vice versa. The eyeball is covered by a top and bottom lid. At the inner side of the lids there is a tear duct.

And the window to our soul is made up of the iris which is the colored portion the pupil thats the black dot and the cornea which is a transparent cover shaped like a contact lense.
